Style Icon - Bruce Pask (fashion director at The New York Times Style Magazine)

Bruce pask style fashion icon street New York Ti

Men's fashion director of The New York Times' T Magazine. Mr Pask also styles and consults for numerous magazines, department stores and designers. He has costume designed for the theatre, most recently for the 2010 Broadway revival of Promises Promises, by Neil Simon.
What I love about Bruce Pask is that he makes wearing a suit look casual but effortless. Most likely you won't see him a suit jacket with the matching pants; he'll opt to pair it with shorts, jeans, or khakis. The way he wears his jackets on his shoulders has this heroic cape-like quality that just goes to show you he's always comfortable, and not taking fashion as seriously as some of his contemporaries.
“My big wardrobe adjustment is making a jacket into a cape, just taking it on and off because outside it’ll be so beautiful and inside it’ll be so stuffy. And it may look a little pretentious wearing a jacket on your shoulders but for me it’s just about temperature regulation, I just get so sick of putting on a jacket and taking it off all the time. It’s just practical.”

Style Icon - Karl-Edwin Guerre (street-style photographer)

izandrew Karl Edwin Guerre fashion style icon st

Karl-Edwin Guerre is an artist and photographer with many interests. Probably the best-dressed street-style photographer out there, Guerre takes the crown as the king of swagger. His impeccable eye for capturing sartorial snapshots carries over to to how he immaculately puts himself together. He's never seen without a pocket square or a fanciful piece of millinery, and doesn't need an excuse or occasion to get dressed up. He has fun with fashion and playfully combines bold colors, patterns, and textures.
A dapper presence outside most NYFW shows, Guerre finds the modern masculine dandy throughout the city. Best checked before any attempt at serious pattern or color-contrasting.

Style Icon - Toni Tanfani (buyer/owner of Gisa in Ancona, Italy)

izandrew Toni Tanfani fashion style icon buyer o

Toni Tanfani is the owner of Gisa, a boutique in Ancona, Italy. He’s always perfectly polished and incredibly sophisticated, but relies on little more than your basic solid blue dress shirts, navy blazers, and grey overcoats. In fact, he’s so pared down that he’s rarely even seen wearing a tie. It’s a style that I think can be very inspirational for people who appreciate rakishness, but also simplicity.
An anonymous reader once asked GW what he should wear to his wedding. GW wisely suggested a navy suit and white button up shirt, to which the reader replied, “that’s too boring and easy!” He then went on to describe some absolutely ridiculous outfit he was planning to wear. I think it was something like a burgundy plaid suit with an ancient madder tie and a tattersall shirt. There was something sophomoric about the reader. He seemed like a man in Anton’s second stage.

Style Icon - Nick Wooster (Fashion Adviser to Gilt Man)

izandrew Nickelson Nick Wooster Fashion Director

As Fashion Adviser to Gilt Man (he was Men's Fashion Director for Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus), Nickelson Wooster is the men's style icon for sartorially inclined young men. His style and attention to detail are almost unparalleled in the men's style world, and every time I see a new picture of I'm stunned at his creativity. Growing up in Kansas and working in a clothing boutique before stints at various fashion houses and Barneys New York, Wooster developed a style that marched to a different drum. The best part is that you never see this kind of style on the street. The style that Wooster has is interesting, sexy, daring, rugged and polished all at the same time and it seriously blows me away.

It's pretty safe to say that Nick has instantly become an overnight style icon and has developed quite the following on the blogosphere. From his trademark handlebar 'stache to his rugged take on prep, Wooster's badass individual style commands attention.

Adam Kelly's interview for GQ

Adam Kelly Selfingers buyer style icon fashion style street celebrity hairstyle fashion trends www izandrew blogspot com izandrew001

"There's a little bit of planning involved for the Fashion Week outfits. A little bit. But it's my job..." Dressed in a Tiger of Sweden suit, Dries Van Noten shoes and a Charvet shirt and tie, Selfridges Menswear Buying Manager Adam Kelly is patiently explaining just exactly how much effort goes into his much-photographed outfits. When he's not working it on street style blogs, Kelly is responsible for making sure that the Oxford Street department store keeps abreast of the key menswear trends. It's a full-time occupation that takes him to Milan, Paris and Florence - being shot by the likes of the Sartorialist and Tommy Ton, on the other hand, is really more of a hobby: "I'm very fortunate to do what I do, which allows me to get certain looks. But it's my love, my passion, so that comes through." Here he talks to GQ.com about Cary Grant, combining High Street with luxury and why his favourite suit is yet to come...

How many suits and jackets do I have? Oh God!Suits it's got to be over 70, with maybe 50 or 60 separate jackets. I've got quite a lot of clothes, it must be said. I have to be pretty meticulous in how I store them. You've got to go with wooden hangers and they're all covered in suit bags to keep them away from the dreaded moths.

Adam Kelly Selfingers buyer style icon fashion style street celebrity hairstyle fashion trends www izandrew blogspot com izandrew002

I write this post because a reader of my blog warned me about the style of Adam Kelly. I admit that I noted several times his style but I have not given much attention.
Adam Kelly is buying manager - designer, formalwear and accessories at Selfridges ,he being always present at the fashion week in Milan and Paris.

He has a very nonchalant style , managed to do it with such ease that he doesn't look too buttoned-up or uptight. It's the way he casually accents a look with a neck scarf or opts for a T-shirt under a jacket that inspires you to dress up with a more relaxed attitude."

Style Icon - Duke of Windsor

DUKE OF WINDSOR mens style icon fashion icon iza

“Chic Fatigue”, is how Diana Vreeland described The Duke for American Vogue because of the casual yet elegant style he kept his whole life – before, during and after his short reign. Born and groomed to be heir to the largest Empire the world had seen since ancient Rome, Edward VIII was bought up at the sober court of his serious and dominating father George V. Provoked and feeling restrained by what was constantly expected of him as Prince of Wales and King, Edward was a man who threw off the shackles of conformity, obligation and duty and opted to embrace the growing world of frivolity and glamour enforced by the scars of WWI and dazzling lights of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Rebelling against the conformity of royal life, he was a self-proclaimed trendsetter and true British dandy, crossing barriers and etiquette of dress. This, combined with his seductive charm, made him irresistible and the most eligible bachelor in the world.

Described by Noel Coward as having “All the charm in the world with nothing to back it up” the Duke of Windsor was a Peter Pan Prince. Self involved and never wanting the party to stop, he was a flirtatious and hopeless romantic, falling in love with the twice-divorced, bewitching American, Wallis Simpson. Consequently, forced to choose love over his duty as King he abdicated in 1936 having only been King for less than a year. He and Wallis lived the jet set lifestyle in exile and he continued to display his flair for fine tailoring and a distinctive style.

Style Icon - Baptiste Giabiconi

baptiste giabiconi karl lagerf izandrew blog

Enough of his glittering career, style wise he is an inspirational figure. Of course with him being a model for Chanel he has accessibility to a vast range of clothes that most of us only wish we had access to. However you can dress just as well as Baptiste by spending a tenth of the value of the clothes he wears. The most important lesson we can learn from looking at his look book above is the sense of knowing what items will work TOGETHER, no matter what they may look like separately.
